Meet our automated readers – without glasses!

November 30, 2004

Munich, 30 November, 2004 - For the first time, friendlyway is introducing automated systems to the market that can also read. Without any glasses, but with a special feeder, the new machines can read, for example, lottery tickets, prescriptions, bills, transfer forms, or enrolment confirmations in every common format, up to size DIN A4.

The automated readers pull in the documents and read them. In the next step, special character recognition software analyses the font and converts it to electronic text. If desired, the scanned text can also be read aloud by an electronic voice.

The new machines are especially suited for use in stores, government offices, hospitals, universities, or banks. Areas of application include handing in lottery tickets, submitting prescriptions, or paying bills, to name just a few.

The new technology is designed to avoid waiting lines at places where documents are submitted. In the long term, operators of automated readers can count on cost savings by automating the acceptance process.

The automated readers are available immediately from all friendlyway dealers in Europe.
