friendlyway: UMTS posters find their way into malls & airports

All that digital UMTS posters from friendlyway need is a power socket
July 05, 2006

Munich, 06.07.2005 - Munich-based friendlyway AG has developed digital UMTS posters for the first time. What the company calls a “digital UMTS poster”, is a touch-sensitive LCD flat screen with up to 57 inches diagonal display and an integrated high-performance processor. The systems are equipped with UMTS, GPRS or WLAN connections for monitoring and updating the posters. They are controlled by the friendlyway composer software. The posters make it easy to take advertising campaigns to public locations such as airports, department stores and stations, and to administer them via UMTS.

Up to now, product launching campaigns were developed mainly with traditional advertising signs and posters. Using digital media often was out of the question. This was especially due to unreliable and complicated technology, unavailable telecom connections, high prices for the displays, and the unsolved issue of the system’s disposal after the campaign.

Customers already using the new advertising medium include BMW Bank, the car rental company Sixt, and the sporting goods manufacturer Puma. BMW Bank advertises current savings offers at Munich Airport Terminal 2, Sixt advertised the new BMW series 6 at Hamburg Airport, and the sporting goods manufacturer Puma will use the displays in Berlin streetcars during the Soccer World Cup.
