friendlyway enables secure EC card payment on the Internet

February 14, 2000

Munich, 14 February 2000 (ots) - friendlyway introduces the first secure payment method using EC and cash cards for common Internet browsers. friendlyway has linked Internet shopping with cash-card and EC card functions from manufacturers Giesecke & Devrient and Krone.

Until now, integrating e-commerce offers in traditional stores frequently presented the problem of how to pay for the offers. With Friendlyway's newly-developed technology, the customer will be able to select a product from the Internet offer in the store and pay directly with their EC card.

To do this, the Internet browser communicates the order and payment information directly, using specially encoded payment technologies, thus enabling a secure transaction. "With its secure payment function friendlyway is once again introducing innovative technology which simplifies the link between e-commerce and traditional commerce," says Andreas Stütz, chairman of the board of friendlyway AG.

Friendlyway’s speciality is in linking the sales channels of shop, Internet, mobile telephone, interactive television and Internet terminals together. The company enables e-commerce and m-commerce in the traditional trading companies as well as in public locations.

This year friendlyway will have a forecast turnover of 33 million DEM; in the 2002 trading year total turnover is expected to grow to over 63 million DEM. Presently, 40 per cent of turnover is earned abroad, mainly in Europe. The company has a subsidiary in the USA. Among its many prestigious clients are the Dresdner Bank, Nokia, Bertelsmann, e-Sixt and Buecher.de.
