friendlyway: Electronic Fair Guide at the Palm-Pilot Station
Munich, Germany (ots) - friendlyway AG, Munich, and BITPlan GmbH, Meerbusch, present their Palm Fair Guide with its friend@public download station. The device is introduced at the DMS EXPO, the industry fair for document management, messaging and security, which takes place from September 5-7, 2000, in Essen/Germany.

For the first time, the friend@public Internet computer terminal of friendlyway AG will be available as a download station for Palm applications at the DMS EXPO. The terminal allows an easy download of the electronic fair guide via the Palm Pilot's infrared interface.
friendlyway AG - a winner company of the renowned start-up competition held by McKinsey, the German savings banks and the journal "Stern" - develops, manufactures and installs point-of-information and point-of-sale information management systems and thus allows friendly communication with the customer in public. "Friendliness in our work means to exceed expectations," says Andreas Stütz, chairman of friendlyway AG's board of directors. In other words: "The customer does not only get the right information at the right place, but also at the right time - just before the decision to purchase."
friendlyway install their interactive consulting systems at highly-frequented public places. The computer terminals with Internet access act as electronic salesmen, virtual shops or information brokers. They are easy to use and help to reduce existing fear of the new media. The terminals are - according to the customer's requirements - equipped with touch screens, voice and even handwriting recognition.
The Palm Fair Guide offers any information available about the fair, which provides above all data about exhibitors, presentations and events as well as general information about various topics as flight and train schedules.
The DMS EXPO fair guide is available in two versions. The free version can be downloaded at http://www.bitplan.de or on the fairground at the download station in the south foyer. The charged version can be purchased at the fair and contains detailed address and contact data about all exhibitors. These are directly read-in into the default address book application of the Palm Pilot, so that the data can then be transferred to the users' desktop applications automatically.
Besides the transfer of addresses and contact information to the address management application, the fair guide offers the possibility of entering presentation dates into the calendar in order to give the user a detailed fair schedule. Exhibitors can also be found with the help of topic-related terms. The user can for example select all exhibitors offering services or products in the field of OCR. The functionality portfolio of the bilingual fair guide is completed by an individually adjustable tour over the fairground and the possibility of transferring general information to the notes application of the Palm. All information is available in German and English.
The DMS EXPO fair guide has been designed based on the smartEvent product of BITPlan GmbH. Organizers can use this configurable fair and event guide for various events or fairs: they just have to reconfigure it and enter the new data. With smartEvent the costly creation of a printed fair guide for every single event is a thing of the past.
