July 10, 2001

SAN FRANCISCO – July 10, 2001 - EpiCenter, a non-profit program of the San Francisco Partnership that develops and nurtures new ideas for emerging talent within the area’s technology community, hopes to boost its ‘connected status’ with area participants when it launches this summer. Thanks to a sponsorship made possible by Netkey, Inc. and friendlyway, Inc. the area center will also be able to offer visitors Web-based onsite information and Internet access through state-of-the-art Web kiosk technology.

“Netkey and friendlyway have been great supporters of EpiCenter and we look forward to exploring the Web with this new resource,” said Hillary Sessions, executive director of EpiCenter. “The kiosk is an easy way for our visitors to access the Internet and for the EpiCenter to showcase its services.”

EpiCenter will officially launch its Web site this coming Wednesday, July 11 with a ceremony at the organization’s home base on One Market Street, where the kiosk is located. EpiCenter is the first site in the city dedicated exclusively to the Bay Area's technology community, providing a state-of-the-art facility offering a variety of ongoing programming including panel discussions, workshops, lectures and networking events. The EpiCenter kiosk showcases Netkey’s award-winning self-service software technology integrated with friendlyway’s eye-catching, signature Intelligent Internet Station that delivers a reliable and user-friendly way to bring Web-based information into the center’s public space.

“We are particularly proud that we can support EpiCenter’s educational values and the importance its places in supporting San Francisco Bay Area business growth,” said Alexander v. Welczeck, President of friendlyway. “friendlyway is pleased to work with Netkey in combining strengths to bring world-class, easy-to-use Web based information to EpiCenter visitors through our Intelligent Internet Stations.”

“Netkey sees EpiCenter as a great forum through which we can share our software innovations with the pioneers of San Francisco’s high technology community,” said Netkey CEO Alex Richardson. “The kiosk demonstration is a great example of the power of Web self-service that is especially applicable to retailers, banks, and other organizations that are looking to maximize their investment in the Internet and e-commerce.“
