SYSTEMS 2001 - friendlyway and NEC demonstrate Multimedia XXL

October 05, 2001

Munich, Germany (ots) - Together with NEC Deutschland GmbH, friendlyway will present the Multimedia XXL product at Systems 2001. On stand 215, in hall B3, visitors will be able to test applications, with which future large-scale picture presentations on NEC displays will be controlled by friend@public computer columns in public sites.

This new technology combination is geared, above all, to the requirements of presentations, sales consultations and animation of products and services in banks and trade. Therefore, Multimedia XXL units will in future be employed preferably in banks, department stores, multi-storey car parks, airports and cinemas.

NEC, the leading manufacturer of plasma displays, is making available various 42-, 50- and 61-inch models, which are tailored to fields of application in heavily frequented areas and to multimedia applications. User-friendly features, such as multipicture and zoom function, provide the user with wide-ranging options to intervene in order to select the suitable representation mode. Furthermore, at Systems 2001, NEC is also showing a 3x3 video screen from the 50-inch plasma display that features an overall diagonal of over 3.80 metres.

The Multimedia XXL unit functions in the following way: an interactive friend@public design infoterminal is set up in front of the large-scale display to be controlled. The terminal's touch-sensitive screen can call up, for instance, videos that can be shown either identically on the large-scale display or in a modified and confidential form.

About the company (http://www.friendlyway.de)

friendlyway has concentrated on the interface of the two 'online/offline' and 'mobile/stationary' megatrends. In the 'online/offline' megatrend, banks and trade customers will bring e-commerce into the classic branch. In the 'mobile/stationary' megatrend, terminals will be able to call up and control these e-commerce ranges. Customers will be able to load, for instance, product information electronically onto their mobile computers and take it home. To this end, friendlyway is developing and marketing technological solutions via the friendlyway partner network throughout Europe and Asia, as well as in the US via its own subsidiary company, friendlyway Inc. in San Francisco.

With this positioning, friendlyway was voted one of Germany's leading innovative companies by the 'Netinvestor' magazine in spring of this year. Within the space of 24 months, friendlyway managed to improve its market position, leaping from 13th to 2nd place in the ratings (see the August 2001 edition of i-Business published by Hightext publishing house). Only last year, friendlyway was successful in the much-coveted StartUp competition organized by McKinsey, the Sparkassen and Stern magazine and secured second place ahead of 1,300 competitors nationwide.
