friendlyway: "Designer Multimedia Vending Machines"

February 20, 2002

Munich, 20.02.2002 – friendlyway will present the first designer multimedia vending machine at this year’s CeBIT Fair. With the friend@public VAN, friendlyway is adding a fully transactional system to its product family.

The very latest trend is to merge conventional vending machines with information kiosks to produce multimedia vending systems. In this way besides the vending function, the automatic machines are endowed with extra functions such as access to the internet, Emails or sending electronic postcards.

“Automatic systems for tickets or mobile phone cards which accept cash or electronic means of payment often look like glorified refrigerators rather than modern well designed information systems. There is no law which says that convenient and reliable multimedia vending machines have to look ugly.” says Klaus Trox, CEO of friendlyway AG.

The friend@public VAN system will be shown to the public for the first time at this year’s CeBIT in Hall 6 stand H46. It can handle different kinds of printers for printing out receipts or tickets, it can accept or deliver cash, it can read notes and EC cards and has biometric security technology. The system can be enhanced with a plug-in publicity display which in a later version will also have a plasma screen.

Other CeBIT 2002 innovations such as the “mediumistic commemorative stone“, the “talking publicity display“, “the virtual bank advisor“ can be found at the Hanover fair at the friendlyway stand in Hall 6 H46 between the 13th March and the 20th March.

About friendlyway (http://www.friendlyway.com)
friendlyway has concentrated on the interface of two megatrends, ‘online/offline’ and ‘mobile/stationary’. In the ‘online/offline’ megatrend, banks and trade customers are now bringing e-commerce into the traditional branches. In the ‘mobile/stationary’ megatrend, these e-commerce offers can be called up and controlled from mobile end-units. Customers can, for instance, download product information electronically onto their mobile computer and take it home. Against this background, friendlyway is developing technological solutions and marketing them via the friendlyway partner network throughout Europe, Asia and in America via its own subsidiary, friendlyway Inc. in San Francisco.
