Deep Blue Wireless and Friendlyway Provide Wireless Internet Access to The Carmel Group’s Satellite Entertainment 2002 Conference

Monterey, CA, April 17, 2002 – The Carmel Group announced today that Friendlyway and Deep Blue Wireless will install wireless Internet kiosks for attendees at their Satellite Entertainment 2002 conference. The event agenda will feature EchoStar’s maverick Chairman Charlie Ergen and DirecTV’s Chairman and CEO Eddy Hartenstein as speakers. FCC Commissioner, Kevin Martin, will highlight Thursday’s session as a keynote speaker at The Carmel Group’s Satellite Entertainment 2002 conference. The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Monterey on Wednesday and Thursday, April 24 and 25.

The theme of conference will be, "Improving the Satellite Industry." Contiuing that theme, FCC Commissioner Kevin Martin's speech on Thursday, April 25 at 12: 45 pm, will focus on key regulatory issues facing the satellite industry today. He is expected to delve into issues such as industry consolidation, spectrum interference, programming requirements, and how future industry growth affects these matters. The Carmel Group’s Chairman and CEO, Jimmy Schaeffler, believes that the event will have a major impact on the near future of the direct broadcast satellite and satellite radio industries.

During the two-day conference, the elite group of speakers will address two key questions: Who will own DBS? Will satellite radio hit the masses?
